Charles Dickens was a famous English writer. He was born on February 7th, 1812 in Portsmouth, England. At the age of 9, he went to school and studied for only 3 years. He started to work very young because his family was poor.
At the age of 18, Charles Dickens worked as a reporter for a newspaper. He travelled to Europe and America.
Charles Dickens wrote many novels about people who lived in England in the Victorian period and the difficult conditions in which poor people lived. Some of his popular novels are: “Oliver Twist”, “David Copperfield” and “The Tale of the Two Cities” .Charles Dickens died on June 9th, 1870.
