How to avoid scammers ?

- Don't share personal details readily: This includes things like your Social Security number, bank account details, passwords, and even your birthday. Legitimate companies won't pressure you for this information over email, phone, or text.
- Watch out for phishing attempts: Scammers often send emails or texts that appear to be from a trusted source, like your bank or a tech company. Be wary of clicking on links or attachments in these messages.
Don't be rushed:
- Scammers love urgency: They want you to make a quick decision before you have a chance to think things through. If someone is pressuring you to pay or give them your information, it's a red flag.
- Take your time and do your research: If it's a too-good-to-be-true investment opportunity, a surprise inheritance from a distant relative, or an urgent plea for help, take a step back and verify the information.
Be web-savvy:
- Don't click on suspicious links: If you're unsure about a link, don't click on it. Hover your cursor over the link to see the actual URL it goes to – if it looks strange, don't click.
- Keep your software up to date: This includes your anti-virus software, web browser, and operating system. Updates often include security patches that can help protect you from malware and scams.
If you suspect a scam:
- Don't engage: Don't respond to emails, texts, or calls from suspected scammers.Report them.
