The right to free expression is the bedrock of journalism:
When journalists are harassed, threatened, or imprisoned for their work, it chills free speech for everyone. Journalists must advocate for each other and hold authorities accountable for press freedom violations.
Free speech comes with responsibilities. Journalists have an ethical obligation to be truthful, avoid inciting violence, and respect the privacy of individuals. It's a balancing act, but one that strengthens democracy and empowers citizens.
The one way journalists can be champions of free speech. By holding themselves and others accountable, So that we can ensure that a vibrant exchange of ideas can flourish.
